Playa del Carmen Restaurants and Bars:
Recommendations and Discounts
Il Baretto Restaurant
Best Coffee in Town and great inexpensive Italian meals.
We at Sealife and Pluto come here for any and all meals
:) Open for great breakfasts.
Big portions of fresh past starting at 5 dollars to 8 dollars, and lots more to chose from.
Located on the corner of 5th Avenue and 26 street. Open from 7am to 11:00 pm.
Babes
The owners of Babes (Per and Lena) offer you a free cocktail
with your meal if you print this page and bring it with you. This is a
good reason to start going there, but the food is the real reason to go
there.
Franco's personal favorite dish is the Pesto Noodles with Chicken, their
best selling dish is the Thai Chicken. Their specialties are noodles,
tapas and cocktails. You must try the Mojito. The restaurant is open from
12pm to 12am and closed on Sundays. Located on Calle 10 between Avenida
5 and 10.
Agora Restaurant and Bar
This restaurant offers the finest Italian and International cuisine,
specializing in local seafood. Try their delicious oven baked seafood
Pasta al Cartoccio or go fishing during the day and taste your own catch
at night!
Thanks to its laid back and fun atmosphere, Agora has now become a must
for most residents and tourists alike. Good music, excellent cocktails
and the best cappuccino in town! They are on Avenida 10th between Calle
12 and 14. Did I mention if you print this page out they will give you
a free cocktail with the order of your meal?
Beach Club Mamita
This beach club is right next to the Sealife Divers dive shop, over
looking the ocean. If you are waiting for a dive or you just need a snack
go in and ask for it. They pretty much have everything. Remember if you
dove with Sealife Divers you will receive 15% off at Mamita's,
just come into the dive shop and we will give you a coupon for it.
La Floresta
This restaurant is not easy to get to but its the best shrimp (camaron)
tacos in town. The price is $1.00 for each taco and you only need 5 to
get stuffed. Location is on the highway - ask a taxi they should know
because all the taxistas eat there.
La Rana Canasada Bar
This is one of the most popular bars for Playa del Carmen locals. A few
lucky locals have been allowed to have boxes on the walls were we keep
our favorite alcohol (which makes having a drink really cheap). Come and
have a drink. Tomas and Janine will be glad to serve you. Also, Janine
is a very talented artist, so ask to see some of her artwork.
Dona Maria
This is another out of the way place, but its one of the best in town
for a simple dinner. Sorry, no lunch. We would love for them to open for
lunch, but they say that it would cut into their siesta time. They are
open from 6:30pm to 1:00am.
Specialty: tostadas 8 pesos, the chicken soup is fantastic, they also
have empanadas, enchiladas and a few other things. Five of us can eat
there and only spend 150 pesos ($15 usd). Location on Avenida 30 and Calle
28 on the corner. Its run by 7 Mexican women.
